Dartmouthian Arrivederci Blues: Tuesday, May 27th!

I cannot stress often enough that what science is all about is not proving things to be true but proving them to be false. -Lawrence M. Krauss, theoretical physicist (b. 1954)

P, nice ridemanship lasterday. Guess I might have seen ya on the road had I returned from HB along the waterfront. I need to do some banking stuff this morning and will be in touch after that is done. Should be done well before 11:AM. If you want to get out sooner, please do. W

Hi Giorgio and Raymond! I'm happy to wait until 11:00 am, or so. Let me know where and when, exactly. Be great if you can join us Robo Man. Cheers, Patrizzio!

Pat/George, I'm good for a ride today. If it's 11 or earlier I can meet with you both. Ray

How about the Point Grey Road bike way east of MacDonald area at 11:AM -- and we can do a loop of UBC? I will call each of you if I get delayed. Sounds good to me. Ray

Hi Lads! Poifect! See mini-peloton on Point Grey at 11:00 am!  We'll stop by Skalbania House if you are delayed, Whirlissimo, to have a java with Nelson!

Two cappuccino's, please! Sorry, make that a Chai Latte with Skim, Soy Milk, Cinnamon on top, and a Sticky Bun on the side for my ravenous friend! Cheers, Il Conduttore!

Sorry, I meant West of MacDonald as you probably guessed...

Dear Swiss Banker! Perhaps you should employ Admiral Barnacle, with his extensive collection of charts, to pinpoint where to rendezvous! You bankers are all the same, if it's not on a spreadsheet you don't have a clue! Go West, Young Man! Cheers, Patrizzio!

Hello Toronto People! Trust your flight went well and that you are enjoying life in Vancouver's rival city! Thanks gain for lovely visit. It was a delight to see you both and I trust we'll meet again, in the not too, too distant future. In closing, thought that you would be pleased to know that The Mysterious Case of the Missing Sock has been solved by Inspector Coriandre. She found it will searching for clues in the pile of towels ready to be washed! Happy to mail it, anywhere in the known universe, if you nominate an address. Or I can donate it to Sarge's collection of single, homeless socks! Fondestos and Cheers!

  • Elly Cornelius Hi Patrick & Corinne. Hahahahaha that's very funny. We had a good flight & Toronto is nice. Thanks for being such great Hosts, really appreciated. You could give the sock to Michele & Doug to take home, as we will be seeing them for drinks in Halifax, or give it to Sarge to add to his collection. Hee hee.
It's going to be 28degrees here today, and we have decided we are going to Niagara Falls today, should be good. Take care Elly & Tony. xx
  • Patrick James Dunn Just said goodbye to Michelle and Doug. Last night went downstairs to visit with them and told them about finding Antonio's elephant sock! Ended up watching the Monaco Grand Prix so that was fun, sipping wine and having Sarge interpret race for me. In 2012 he changed his flight to Oz so that he could take in Grand Prix, in Melbourne, before the start of our trip there. Sock now en route! Enjoy Niagara. Cheers!
  • Patrick James Dunn Molly sends her regards as well!

Hi Lurch!
Trust you and Grogg are well after returning from Mexico and Ontario! Busy time here ever since we landed! Tony/Elly, friends from Brisbane, stayed before and after cruise to Alaska. Now in Toronto. Michelle and Doug, friends of Flamin', were here this past week/weekend, at a conference, so numerous boisterous meals as you can imagine.

Carol Riera, friend who worked with Cora Lee at VPL in town for a high-school reunion and will be staying at The Annexe for a week. Talk about "hot sheets"! She moved in an hour after T/E departed! Cora Lee is off to Victoria on Friday to present at BCLA Conference on Saturday and then back to spend weekend with Colleen at their cabin in Sunshine Valley. Colleen is part of the VPL Sisterhood and she is hosting The Babes. Big Al, and a friend, will drown our sorrows at VWF's Dram Come True at Hycroft on Friday night. Sarge was to attend as well but has been asked to run for Skate Canada Board so he is off to Quebec City on Wednesday! Bit far ahead but just had a message from Stefano and he and Kathleen will be in Vancouver for Thanksgiving so perhaps we can arrange a visit while they are here, time/their schedule permitting. Fondestos from Cora Lee. Cheers, Patrizzio!

We are here over Thanksgiving and look forward to seeing our International Twit!  We are having a solstice party here on June 19 and all the other Twits are coming as well as the neighbours and our Island friends.  Glad it's pot luck as it will be a very large gathering.

Grog & the Pirates  are off to Port Alberni this am to stare down the lumberjacks and I'm going to Comox to help Sylvia with stuff.  Cimcky is lumping under his summer blanket on our bed.  The otter gang, 6 strong , were around the shore last night and the cruise ships are back.  The otters have been visiting Jeannie's, 2 doors down and facing off with Honey Bunny . Cleaned out the garage on Saturday, all the fire wood is now in the woodshed and we can actually put a car inside.  Had a nice visit in Peterborough, Audrey is doing well and we took her to favourite places.  Memory is short but she's happy.  F

Hi again, Lurch! Thanks for newsy update. You both sound busy as ever. Glad to hear The Range Rider is well, along with Sylvia. Please say hello and pass along best wishes from both of us when you see her in Comox. Glad all the domestic and other wildlife are thriving!

I'll pass along your message to Stefano and with enough advance warning perhaps they can build in an opportunity in their itinerary to visit. Cheers, Patrizzio!

Hello again, Organ Grinder! Speaking of music I had mentioned to Lurch that you and Kathleen will be in Vancouver for Thanksgiving and that perhaps we could arrange a visit to Parksville while you are here, time/schedule/inclination permitting. Anyway, just a bit of advance warning, for planning purposes, if you feel you want to visit. Cheers, Patrizzio!

 Hi Janet!

From the sound of it, your life has been very busy and full as well. Thanks for congrats. Called Rhoda "Rhodinski" at one time and it was shortened or "transmogrified" into "Ski" at some point!

As it turned out, Cora Lee did hook up the Apple TV correctly but didn't realize that one needed to invoke HDMI 2, on menu, in order for it to work. All Branko did was change setting. You and Coriandre should start a Gadget Girls, a la Molly Maid, service then sell it for millions once some entrepreneur wants to franchise operation!

Glad you are enjoying time spent with your Mum. Know exactly what you mean and you are certainly well advised to do so as nothing is guaranteed, as I'm sure I need not tell you. I always felt so fortunate to have my Mom living so close to us for so much/most of her later life. Please send along best wishes to your mother. Glad she has decided, on her own, not to drive. This is a bit of an issue with Dusty as he turned 90 in early May. Fortunately, he is really only driving at the lake where there isn't the traffic of Winnipeg. Nevertheless, a concern.

With respect to an evening with you/Eyob and family, Friday, June 6th would work well for us. I'll send along a message to him and see if that date is available for his family, or part thereof. I think Sat/Sun of that weekend are also possibilities but Friday, for other reasons, seems best candidate as of this writing.

Had a short ride today, out to UBC, with Robo Man and Whirlygig. Met the lads on Point Grey Road and the new, dedicated bike path on Cornwall, leading right into Point Grey Road, now local traffic only, really makes that route a delight. After I waved goodbye to Giggster at Macdonald I didpsy-doodled around Kits Point and then went as far as Olympic Village to obtain distance, (60+ km), I'd decided I wanted. Stats for ride:

No excuse for you not riding to our place now! Down bike route on 37th all the way to Marine, past campus and then along Spanish Banks to GI. I'd be more than happy to ride it with you at some point, just to show you a few "inter-connections" that you can take until you are more comfortable riding where there is or will likely be a certain amount of traffic. That being said, from your place in Kerrisdale, right to our place, if you travel via UBC, you will only have to cycle along busy Marine, between Camosun and the west end of 16th and the dedicated bike lane is very wide the entire length of this stretch. A slight dipsy-doodle onto West Mall, past the junction of Marine and 16th, and you can use the separate, dedicated bike/pedestrian path from just below the Chan Centre all the way down the hill. Once at the bottom of the Foreshore Hill you can use bike path along water which takes you all the way to Brock House and the dedicated, separate, freshly paved bike path takes you all the way to restricted Point Grey Road and then Kits Pool. Thence around Kits Point where the traffic is very light. Alternatively, you can stay on bike path at Kits beach which continues past Maritime Museum, Bard on the Beach and then you are almost at GI via short stretches of Seawall! Presto!

Of course if you head north from your place to ours, there are shorter routes but you will need to thread your way more carefully, (One always has to be careful, of course, not matter where or when!), if you are not yet completely comfortable on certain city streets. However, I can also show you the various "linked" bike routes that you might take to achieve same goal, coming this way. Anyway, do let me know if you'd like to have a "guide" as I'd be more than pleased to act as one. Like having a driver in India!

Will be in touch as soon as I've heard from Eyob and then we'll plan accordingly. Cheers, Patrizzio!

Hi Eyob! Trust you and family are well. Have been in touch with Janet and we were both wondering if the evening of Friday, June 6th would work for a get-together, at our place. I think Sat/Sun of that weekend are also possibilities but Friday, for other reasons, seems best candidate as of this writing. At any rate, let me know what you think and we'll plan accordingly. Of course all your lovely children are welcome but I certainly understand if they don't wish to join the "elders"! Fond regards from Cora Lee to you and Shewa. Cheers, Patrizzio!

Hello Famiglia Carter!

I mentioned that I would send along some of the snaps I took at the celebration held on Sunday of this long weekend just passed. Stephanoula asked to be remembered to both Nikki and Tom. Cheers, Il Conduttore!

Hi Big Al and Marilyn!

Trust your knee is fully recovered! No more excuses now for joining me. Perhaps this weekend when the Babes are misbehaving at Sunshine Valley!
I'm still planning to have food here for the three of us. Doors at Dram probably open at 7:00 pm even though bars won't pour until 7:30 pm. Any idea when you might arrive at The Islay Inn? Will you be driving to leave your vehicle here? I can ask Flamin' to chauffeur us to Hycroft although, as of this writing, I haven't been able to contact her. We can walk back, all downhill, and depending on your plans for getting back home you can call a cab or take Sky Train or stay the night! Anyway, let me know and we'll plan accordingly. Cheers, Patrizzio!

Hi Giorgio! I tried to line up Mick and Ted but Polly is just back from England and Elaine, just back yesterday, was quite ill in NY. In fact she didn't get out of bed for the two weeks they were there! Pretty serious bronchitis. Additionally, I had completely forgotten that we are having dinner, here, with Carol, tomorrow night! So I guess I'm out! Looks like we might have to play without you next week!

Really enjoyed our ride today. Good to have a few riders. Might try to squeeze in a ride between showers, forecast for 10:00 am and then 1:00 am. After that cloudy until 5:00 pm when thunderstorms are supposed to happen! Let me know if any of these "Open Windows" appeal. Cheers, Patrizzio!
