Arrivederci Tesla Blues: Friday, June 20th!

Three hill training run out to UBC today. Didn't leave until close to 6:30 pm and at very beginning of ride, just as I was going past entrance to GI, on a green light, a woman in a large SUV started to make an illegal right-hand turn onto GI. Fortunately I was able to avoid a collision and she stopped when she finally saw me. Of course she was most apologetic but I still gave her a piece of my mind. Great to be one not breaking the law for a change!

Back by close to 9:00 pm to shower and change. Cora Lee was out for the evening at a reunion, a gathering of most of the friends who had spent a week or so together in Tuscany last September. Alone for the better part of what was left of the night I was free to listen to Tim Tamashiro, host of CBC Radio 2's Tonic, a nightly jazz program, and try to catch up on email and blog entries. When Villa Woman returned, we watched an episode or two of Breaking Bad before heading to bed to read for a bit before lights out.

Hi Whistler Woman! Are you still keen to ride tomorrow? If so, I thought we could meet at near Alma and Point Grey, on that stretch of new tarmac somewhere between Hastings Mill Park and Brock House, around 9:00 am. Let me know, either by email or a phone call. I'll probably be up by 7:00ish.

Thanks again for last night and your lovely, lovely dessert, bicycle bell and hootch! Trust you made it home safely! Glad we didn't have far to go!!! Cheers, Patrizzio!

Hi.   Yes,  a nine am ride would be great.. Thanks.   Thanks so much to you and Corinne for a lovely evening.  I'm glad that you liked the cake.   Jake was happy to get the rest of it this morning.   I rode to get our car.   I wasn't feeling 100% this morning.   You are a Bad influence on me!   Thanks.   See you at 9.

Hi again, WW! See you on the tarmac at 9:00 am. Cheers, Bad Boy Dunn!

Greetings from Nanoose! We are heading to Nashville, Savannah (and Peterborough) from Sept 15 to Oct 6th. The house needs sitting from Sept 13 to 18. Thought we ask you 1st-nice time to be here, cycle etc...Our regular sitter takes over on the 18th...Grog

P.S. We are over on July 14/15 in Van en route to Okanagan, Walla Walla & Yakima (1st time in years!) Then back in Van on July 26th before heading home.
(fireworks night by coincidence) If you are around, let's get together with the gang!! Hope at least 1 of those days might work...

Hi Groggage! With respect to house/cat sitting, I'm interested but cannot commit until I find out/clarify a number of things. Gayle and Derek, couple from Cornwall, arrive on September 10th and are staying with us. I assume you wouldn't mind if they came over BUT I don't know their schedule at moment.

As well, I am thinking about a "quick" trip to California some time this Fall. Sarge and Whirlygig are interested so I need to talk to both of them to find out what might work. The road trip would also have to dovetail with VIFF, (September 25-October 10th), and VWF, (October 21st-26th), volunteer activity. I assume I'll know in a week or so. If you need to know sooner then go ahead with asking others. Thanks, regardless, for offer. With respect to next Mainland visit, I'm in the Penticton Granfondo on July 13th so we won't be back in Vancouver until the 14th so 15th is probably best for us.

Flamin' and Sarge will be up as well and I think they will be staying until Monday before returning. I'm going up earlier for a bit of "training" and Cora Lee and The Freelaoders will drive up on Friday, July 11th. We leave for Winnipeg on July 22nd, a day or so after Folk Fest so we won't connect on the 26th. Not sure about Sutherlands but they will probably be here. Anyway, I'll be in touch as soon as I've heard from everyone.

Had a grand time last night with farewell bbq for Pat and David Coffaro. Bill and Denise were along so it was good to see them both. Cheers, Patrizzio!

Snaps: At Liberty Distillery, on GI, before last night's shindig! Kid Chelene with Avery on Wednesday evening when Clan Sutherland invited themselves to our bbq!

An axe I've been grinding for a while. The Canadian government makes it very difficult for Canadians to borrow toward the purchase of real estate, yet it leaves the door wide open for wealthy investors from abroad. Vancouver properties are now more expensive than in any other city in the world. It just so happens that these wealthy investors have little regard for democracy and vote en masse for this right wing government, thereby changing the political landscape of our once great country.
