Tour de France, Leeds to Harrogate Cavendish Blues: Saturday, July 5th!

Tour de France - sort of:

Hi Iona Peleton! Thanks for the Boris clip, Robo Man. I guess we always wondered why you chose to ride such a heavy bike. Now we know you are secretly in training for the Tour de Boris!

I watched a bit of the First Stage on the Tour website, (Scenery shown was spectacular!), and saw  Mark Cavendish and Mikael Cherel go down. What a nasty accident for the Brit. Wonder how this will affect rest of race, if indeed he can continue.

At any rate, I had nothing but sympathy for the Boris lads as I found many of the Yorkshire hills challenging enough on my Montague with its 28 gears! Cavendish's crash is not something I need to think about, just a week before riding in my first multi-rider event! Time for a few errands before I watch Netherlands vs Costa Rica. Cheers, Patrizzio!

Hi Matt and Catherine: Thanks for helping me out of the ivy! Fortunately I was so "relaxed" I didn't feel  thing! More of a slide than a topple! Even passed the breathalyser which greatly surprised Cora Lee. Officer didn't need me to blow, just took a reading from inside the car, although he asked me if I'd been in a fight. Replied that it was the only recourse I had when my mingy Scots host wouldn't give me any more of his wonderful malt! Anyway, thanks to you both for the simply wonderful, wonderful meal and equally astounding wine. Fondestos from Cora Lee, off helping Chloë. Buona Fortuna with real estate agent. Let's chat about Folk Fest when we are back from Naramata. Cheers, Patrizzio!

Hello Anna Maria Tremonte and Rudi Ruddenheimer! Trust you are both well. Have been meaning to send these snaps along for ages. (Thanks for the band-aid, slipped under our door, by the way!!!). No excuses but plenty of reasons! We have had an almost non-stop flurry of visitors ever since we returned from Playa del Carmen.
Fondestos from Coriandre to you both. Cheers, Patrizzio! PS: Will send another message right away, with rest of pictures! Last batch! Cheers, Patrizzio!

Hello VWF! Have been meaning to send these along for some time! No excuses but plenty of reasons!! Cheers, Patrizzio!

Some very good photos from Yorkshire RAYhttp://www.theguardian.com/sport/gallery/2014/jul/05/tour-de-france-2014-in-yorkshire-in-pictures

Hi Raymond! Thanks for the latest set of pictures of the Tour. Cora Lee went downstairs to see Flamin', late this afternoon, and Sarge was watching the Tour! I've only seen what you've sent me as well as a few other bits from official site. I assume Peter, my host in Naramata, has a sports channel so I'm looking forward to watching it there, picking up training tips from the pros!

Didn't do but errand runs today so took my Brodie. Managed to log 26.08 km over 1:28'53 for an AVG 17.6 km/hr going to BC Liquor Store on Alama/4th, (Went "long" way, there and back, via Point Grey.), then to Young Brothers and thence back home. Needed a few more things at Cheap Thrills, (No Frills), on Pine/4th bit my panniers and backpack were filled to capacity so needed to empty them before next run. I wore a rain jacket as I presumed there would be showers but at my first stop I stowed it in my knapsack as it was so warm. Actually, with breeze it was wonderful.

I'm hoping to go for a longish ride tomorrow but don't know when I can squeeze it in. Need to pick up a few things for dinner tomorrow as well as a few things at MEC for Naramata, as well as pack. I'd like to leave reasonably early on Monday as I'm hoping to do drive the Granfondo route between Oliver and Kaleden via White Lake Rd to get a sense of the climb. If I have time, I will try to ride part of it just to get the first feel for the terrain here, the steepest section of the route. It's about 47 km from Oliver to Kaleden so I know I'll have to wait until later in week to go all the way from Oliver to Kaleden this way. When I do this I plan to park in OK Falls. I've done the section from there to Fairview Cellars, basically the start of the "real" climbing, and for the most part it is Richmond-like, if not reasonably flat then slightly downhill for much of the way until the slow climb out of Oliver towards Fairview Cellars. Anyway, that's the plan!

Had a wonderful, wonderful meal, as well as equally astounding wine, with Catherine and Matt, last night. Guess I didn't have enough to drink as I slipped, when leaving, and landed in the ivy by the front door! Matt had to help me up! Anyway, a grand evening and we did make it home without further incident. Look forward to seeing you both tomorrow, sometime between 6:00-6:30 pm. Cheers, Patrizzio!

sounds good Patrick. Will see you then. Forgot what your phone number is, but could you give it to me so I can call you to give you a heads up before I swing by? I don't want to interrupt any private toe nail clipping session or anything VL
Hi Vittorio and Patrizzio The Younger! Trust you are both well. Vittorino, give us a shout. Look forward to seeing you!  Cheers, Patrizzio!

Pat called and is in San Diego. Kate and Bryan are here and off in my Model S wine tasting, I hope they don't crack it up. Tonight pizza...........They head off tomorrow so they can't drive you back for lamb and roast potatoes......take a helicopter!!...........have fun..............Dave

Hi Everyone, Just to update you all.  I have been able to get us a photographer for family photos.  She will arrive at 2pm sharp the day of the party and will take photos for about an hour-hour and a half prior to the other guests arriving at 4pm for appis at the cabin.  We will take outside in the garden/backyard unless raining (then inside George/Barbs place).  Please ensure all primping, beautifying, napping, swimming, bike riding etc. has been done and you are ready in your Sunday (Saturday) best for when she gets here as we are on a short timeline.

I have already indicated we want a large group shot as well as family groups.  Please let me know asap if there is a particular photo group you'd like to see as we will have limited time that day so want to be prepared with the list ahead of time.  Already thinking of gg and 4 kids, gg and grandchildren as well as each "kid" with their respective families.

This should be a great memento of our time together and Grandma has already said the only gift she'd really like is some family photos. Over & out, "Colonel" MJ Jurkowski

Thanks Mar we definitely need a new family shot for us. Pat and Gavin

There should also be a photo with G and G with the great grand kids.

That will be a great shot…two giants + two tykes!

Hi Pam and I are working on budget and figuring out what we need etc. I think it will just be easier if we take care of the booze for the day of the party.

I understand you guys may be bringing some hooch from the West Coast with you but I assume this is for our personal family stash during our visiting time and a few select bottles for consumption on the Saturday? For the rest of the guests we can figure out from the LCBO near Pam's. Probably much easier since I've already assigned you guys Costco duties on the Friday.

Can't believe we are almost in the home stretch...looking forward to seeing everyone very soon!!!    Well done Mar!! So excited for this visit!! Xx Chloe

That sounds fine. We're getting excited as well. Will leave on the 22 of July. Patty is here this week should see her on Wednesday. Hugs to all, Corinne

Der Führer Über Commandant Jurkowski!

Famiglia Dunn/Durston/Prince would like to request a photo group rather than being sent to the Russian Front! With respect to hootch, we will be muling tanks of it from the Tar Sands of Alberta but as you say, it will only be for the Palace Guard and the select few, with more than discriminating palettes! No Pemmican Society losers, please. We can also take a run to Grant Park, when passing through city, if it hasn't floated away by then, on way to Falcon, to pick up more "pedestrian" hootch for Saturday. Let us know what you think and we can chat about what you want a little closer to time.
Cheers, Patrizzio!PS: Just to let you know, DFUCJ, I certainly do not appreciate having "cycling" lumped in with "primping"! See you in Siberia, without mosquitoe repellent!

Hello, Below is a personal invitation to a special event that West Point Cycles is hosting after the Axel Merckx Gran Fondo in Penticton on July 13th. We have invited a very select group of our customers to join us at Poplar Grove Winery the evening of the ride, to celebrate.

A few of our invitations never made it to our customers inboxes for one reason or another so I am sending this directly to you. If the invitation does not show up below, here is a link.
